"Deck the Halls" is the kind of carol that always makes me smile. This arrangement for harp features easy broken chords, bouncing octaves, parallel runs, and a fun introduction.ĭeck the Halls for Double Strung Harp (Free!) Light, happy, and perfect for the harp! In this arrangement, I had a lot of fun with parallel runs, and yet intermediate players will be able to enjoy playing this tune with only a little effort. Later intermediate players can enjoy my English Carol Medley, with more pieces made famous in harp circles by Loreena McKennitt. If you love these more unusual tunes, you must check out the Jezebel Carol. Ordinarily, it would require lever changes to these carols consecutively, but by choosing a related key for the second carol, I've avoided all lever changes. The arrangements use running arpeggios interspersed with single notes or intervals, with some PDLT for contrast in the second half. This fun to play addition to your holiday harp repertoire is a "mash-up" of two lovely, minor Christmas carols from the French tradition, "In This Town of Bethlehem," and "Whence Comes This Rush of Wings." This arrangement is perfect for a candle light service, an advent walk, or any more meditative holiday occasion. The intermediate version features a complicated-sounding but not very hard moving left hand and some "add 9" arpeggios that sound impressive but are built on a simple repeating shape. The beginner version of the beautiful carol "Gabriel's Message" fits on a therapy harp and features a gentle moving left hand pattern of broken triads with some lovely counter melody touches. These two arrangements of this beautiful piece are perfect for Christmas services and candle-light meditations.
